ABOUT MYSELF

I am a research scholar (PhD student) in Mathematics Education. My dissertation work broadly involves exploration of the nature and extent of school students' (especially middle graders') 'everyday' mathematical knowledge and its characterisation.

 

AREAS OF INTEREST

Epistemology, Nature and Philosophy of Mathematics, Mathematics and Everyday Cognition, Ethno-mathematics, Language and Mathematics, Number Theory & Cryptography.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Taught undergraduate mathematics at the Dept. of Mathematics, Bihar National College, Patna University, Patna from August 2002 to July 2007.
  • Member, Core Committee formed by the Governor, Bihar to study and suggest measures to energize and improve college education system in Bihar.
  • Member, Mathematics Focus-group, Bihar Curriculum Framework 2006, prepared by the State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT), Bihar.
  • Member, State Resource Group, Bihar for ADEPTS (Advancement of Educational Performance through Teachers' Support) an MHRD concept to standardize school education system.
  • Attended the 'Mathematics Training & Talent Search' (MTTS) Programme (Funded by NBHM) as a tutor held at the Centre for Advanced Study in Mathematics, Panjab University, Chandigarh in May-June 2005.
