Sub: Invitation to Attend Second Peoples Education Congress on Science Education
in India
Dear Sir/Madam,
Peoples Council of Education (PCE) in association with Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research shall hold the Second Peoples Education Congress (PEC) on ‘Science Education in India’ between October 05 and 08, 2009 at Mumbai. Major object of the Congress is to discover, develop and disseminate a new democratic system of science education reflecting the democratic needs, aspirations and creative potentialities of Indian people. The deepening crisis in education and declining scientific creativity in our country have necessitated rethinking and critical examination of the system of science education. We all, therefore, need to put our thoughts on science education as well as whole education system together honestly and sincerely in order to search a new democratic system of science education.
I, therefore, appeal to you and through you to your colleagues and research students to put your creative thoughts in a paper and participate in the deliberations of the Second Peoples Education Congress. All its details are given in this booklet for your kind perusal and necessary action. I would be grateful to you for circulating it among your colleagues and research students. It would be most helpful if you can draw and send us a list of such scientists and teachers of science who you think are creative and innovative thinkers.
